Immerse yourself in the history of Marangu and its people. Marangu, at the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, is a small town with a great amount of history and ancient traditions. Get carried away by the Chagga tribe unique and rainforest landscape. This full day tour has it all: action, tradition and culinary.
Morning: Departure from Moshi
Departure Time: 7:00 AM
Distance: Marangu is located approximately 45 kilometers from Moshi, and the journey takes about 1-1.5 hours by road.
Activity 1: Scenic Drive
Enjoy a scenic drive from Moshi to Marangu gate. As you approach the town, you'll catch glimpses of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak.
Activity 2: Hike from Marangu Gate (1,860m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Distance: Approximately 8km
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Elevation Gain: 840m
Habitat: Rainforest
After registration, start to hike to Mandara hut, the hike takes you through lush rainforest with opportunities for wildlife sightings. You will have the opportunity to take pictures of the mighty Kilimanjaro and get sense of the spirit of the mountain.
It just takes 15 minutes' walk from Mandara to Maundi Crater. This place offers a good view of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks and also good view of the Kenyan side ad lake Chala and Jipe. During eruption the pressure was not enough to force magma to get out hence instead of rise up it formed a crater.
Afternoon: Departure from Marangu

Evening: Arrival back in Moshi
Arrival Time: 5:00 PM
